Barrier System

Barrier Readers are available in on-line as well as off-line form. The difference being the on-line reader accesses your system each time to check if access permissions are granted or denied. The on-line reader also sends activity to a separate screen and log file.

An off-line reader will simply read the dates on the card and will grant access if the date/time is valid. Off-line readers obviously have the advantage of not requiring a connection to a PC.

However, the disadvantage of off-line readers is that you cannot deny access to someone who has been barred from entry during the course of their holiday or an owner who has not paid their bills. Likewise, off-line readers cannot send activity information to your system.
